i did last weeks illustration friday 'soaked' but never posted it.
trust me, i'm from the NW, i know what SOAKED is all about!!!

okay, i don't really have many thoughts at the moment.
this is terrible...the only thing that's coming to my mind right now is this.

just maybe that i love cupcakes and girls.

what's happening on the home front???


my 16 yr. old went to PROM!
AND has her first boyfriend!!!!
scary stuff as a parent.
but... she is a girl, and human, and wants a boyfriend.
really? really, i ask.
is it necessary?
we were really hoping that she'd be an anomaly-
and not date till she was married!! (like we've been subtly suggesting! hehe!)

in case you don't have kids, or kids this age yet...
we are like the last hold outs in not letting her date till 16.

*thankfully he is a very nice guy and even texted me to ask our permission :)

been trying to spend some time everyday just doodling.
it makes me happy.
no pressure.
and for no intentional purpose.
just merely fun.

art journal beginnings

one thing i'd like to do this year is spend a little more time art journaling.
nothing too intense or involved.
just loose and fast.

these are my beginnings.
so far, just little mementos that i've been collecting glued in here and there.
and some paint slapped down.

i'm constantly doodling on random pieces of paper,
and i like the idea of having a place i can paste them in for future inspiration.

*btw-i didn't paint that gorgeous face, i found it, i think, in a portland galleries brochure. not sure who the artist is but i love it! trina hesson!

sketchings

been doing quite a bit of random sketching lately.
trying to come up with images that would translate well into silk screening.
my studio is still taken over by studio sale set up till after this weekend so pulling the paints out feels like too much hullabaloo for my lethargic self.
i've gotten out of my routine of regular exercise,
so i'm feeling just swell about myself.
but... i did get on the bike trainer last night for 35',
so i might be on the flip side of laziness.
this is NOT the season to quit exercising!
too much good food around to scarf on.
