this past weekend we went up to Government Camp for Jess to do a ski camp. Stephen, Sarah(an amazing artist) and their kids joined us for a few of the days. we hiked, rode bikes, ate ice cream, drank good coffee and did some ARTing.
it was fun and relaxing. i think i really needed this. and, i realized i LOVE painting outside!!!
just look at this SWEETNESS i received in the mail from Carol in NJ!!! is she not the kindest!?! blessing me with something made by her talented hands. my heart warms every time i look at one of them. thinking about how someone who only knows me through my blog would send me something so special. thank you Carol. you've totally blessed my socks off!!
i was at a party a few years ago and my friend Patty said to me that I should make soap dispensers with my animals. the first picture that came into my head was of them spitting soap from their mouths. we laughed about it and i truthfully didn't give it much thought after that night.
that was until i was looking for a soap dispenser for my kitchen last fall. i realized very quickly how UN-creative most sd's are. ahhhhh, an "opportunity"!
hence, on my next trip to China, i pursued the idea. and let me just say, i have an amazing factory that never seems to cower from trying new things. this i am so thankful for!
i think the owl is my fave. is this something you would use? if so, what animal?
just touching base real quick while i wait for my plane to Atlanta for the gift show... not sure if i'll find the time and more importantly, the energy, to blog through the next week.
we just got some note cards printed for the first time! so exciting. we'll be offering some packs of these on our website soon. oh, speaking of the website-we've had a few snaffu's and had to pull the link till we get them fixed. we should have it back up and running here really soon!
thank you SO MUCH for your encouragement on all my new paintings!!! i can't tell you how much fun i'm having and the fact that YOU like them is making it even better. i've had many inquires about when i'll have prints of this new body of work available...the answer is, i'm frantically trying to get everything together to leave for the Atlanta Gift Show next week so it's probably going to be a couple of weeks still. sorry :(
i'm currently smitten with wheels, aqua blue and owls. which brings me to my current finished painting.
i and can't believe i'm saying this... but i'm actually starting to fall in love with this pinky color! i bought it on sale figuring that i'd use it as a filler and for texture. it has slowly drawn me into it's sweet frosting spell.
as some of you already know, we've been getting our girls (10 & 15)
out on their bicycles this year. they've even been doing some racing. which is exciting and scary at the same time.
to be honest with you, i've questioned... and continue to question, our wisdom in encouraging our children in this sport. it's dangerous and people on the roads in our area tend to be very intolerant of cyclists. BUT, it is such a great sport!!!
do we let fear stop us? what would you do?
the beginnings of the painting above.
a bit further in the process.
almost there. see top of post for finished piece. :)
hi and welcome!!! i'm so glad you're here! my name is michelle. i'm blessed to be a wife (to gary) of 18 years and a mom of two girls; alexis(16) & jess(11). i've been a full time artist for 15 years. i made my start at Portland Sat. Mkt. and art fairs around the country, and then headed into wholesale shows when our oldest began school. i love ART-ing, art journaling, running, cycling and downing junk food!
