we decked the halls.
spent days setting up and making things pretty.
tried some new things like advertising on facebook and craigslist.
neither of which worked...that i know of.
this year we wanted to try a Charity Night. our thought was: to raise a little money for a couple of charities and at the same time try to lessen the massive rush we usually get on the opening morning.
oops...
i guess we didn't charge enough ($5). it was utter chaos!
don't judge me by my wrinkled tablecloths! some things have to give.
it was still really fun and we were able to raise a couple hundred $$ for Laundry Love and Open House Ministries. super cool.
jess painted this snowman while staying over at my mom's a few weeks ago.
i'm still in awe! she is quite the entrepreneur. begging us to make prints and magnets for her and scouring my drawers for blank cards that she can make her own.
my heart swells with joy at her enthusiasm.
one weekend down. and one more to go.
first though. Thanksgiving!
today i'm thankful for my amazing employees that bust a move when i need them to.
for friends and family that come beside me in my crazy life.
and i'm thankful and deeply moved by people who like what i do-enough to want it in their homes.
God is good to me.

I can´t believe how good Jessica is at painting!!! I just absolutely LOVE her snowman! The color-scheme, the shadowing, the snowy details. I am in awe! but maybe that´s what you get third generation of talented artists :-) And by the way, I love your stuff too, Michelle :-) Good luck with the rest of the sale.

Wish I lived closer! I would have loved to come! If I ever get to Washington, yours is the first stop on my list!
I am part of an artists co-op in Springfield, IL and we are raising money for 2 charities this year. For our December fundraiser each artist is decorating shopping bags that will be sold at the shop with all proceeds going to a children's cancer summer camp. Check us out...www.studioon6th.com. Thanks always for inspiring my creativity!

Ok....
ONE: I'm in awe of your daughter because her art is FANTASTIC and she's on to something there... definitely an awesome idea of hers to get prints and magnets done... she could get into licensing at the tender age of 9! Woah... watch out WORLD! :)
TWO: I'm (as always) in awe of your art, drive and joie de vivre! and the sheer prolificness of it all, AMAZING. proud of my healthy protein snack
THREE: I was eating almonds & a banana while reading this post, feeling rather proud of my healthy snack and enjoying the flavors..... that quickly felt like sawdust in my mouth compared to that luscious spread you had laid out... MMmmm...ok Almonds are cool but lets throw in some of that cheese and a glass of wine... yes please... oh heck make that two glasses... lets live a little... LOL ;)
FOUR: I LOVE your studio space, looks like a wonderful, energizing place to create in and I sure I wish I had friends like you who lived near me so we could play together and make art....
FIVE: Congrats on the amazing event!
