I found this gem at the San Diego Airport right outside the United terminal. I didn't see who the artist is but it is quite amazing isn't it. I'm a sucker for mosaic anyways but add in this artists amazing use of color and to me it's a masterpiece!

Wow...this is fabulous - I'm inspired...I've been on the hunt for the perfect table to mosaic for my deck - maybe I haven't found one because I'm supposed to do a wacky birdhouse or sculpture for the garden!

WOWZER! These mosaics are fabulous!
IMHO, people don't take enough vacations anyway so you go, girl.
I always enjoy reading artists' blogs re: such things as vacations, festivals, etc....
Get better with that sciatica. Bleh...

If you like mosaics, you should check out this artists site. I was in his workshop in Jaipur, India last year.

and he does everything from small jewely-pieces, to large skulptures

Hi there, I stumbled onto your site and found your great comments. The piece is called A Different but Loving Pair by Cecilia Stanford, made of hand-made tile and mosaics. It is a part of the Port of San Diego's permanent collection of Urban Trees and was on loan to the SD County Regional Airport Authority for one year. For more information please visit us at art.san.org Thanks again for the support & best of luck to you in your artistic endeavors! Susanna - SD International Airport Art Program

Looks like something I would see at the glass museum in Tacoma, WA. Or in the streets of Seattle.

Modern mosaics are found covering everything from park benches and flowerpots to guitars and bicycles. Items can be as small as an earring or as large as a house.
